Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland

Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland stands for the world wide selling of bud wood, graft wood and fruit tree rootstocks to professional nurseries. Many of our varieties are freely available for every nursery that wants to bud or graft them. Other varieties are under plant variety rights (PVR) protection. For these varieties authorisation by the variety owner is required. We exclusively sell propagation material of protected varieties to licensed nurseries.

Our organisation
All our activities take place under the umbrella of Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland B.V. This B.V. is owned by a foundation. In this way an objective and independent position is guaranteed. We continuously stay in close contact with our customers. In this way we try to ensure and to improve our position on the national and international market.

History
Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland derives from a joint initiative of Dutch fruit growers and Dutch fruit tree nurseries. Around 1960 they asked NAKB (nowadays called Naktuinbouw) to develop a reliable production system for bud wood, graft wood and fruit tree rootstocks. The production locations for propagation material were scattered all over the country. First priority was selection and trueness-to-type/-variety. From 1970 onwards, the virus free status played an ever larger role, and the production was concentrated on two locations, Horst and Zeewolde.

In the year 2000 Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland was disconnected from NAKB and became independent and self-supporting.

Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland started as a national initiative, but gradually developed to an international organisation, nowadays selling a large share of its products to customers outside the country.

Production locations Horst and Zeewolde

Horst
The head office of Vermeerderingstuinen Nederland is located in Horst. In Horst the main activity is the production of bud wood and graft wood of fruitcrops. Our most important crops are apple, pear, cherry and plum. The production is spread over several production plots in a wide area around the village of Horst.

Zeewolde
Main activity in Zeewolde is the production of certified basic fruit tree rootstocks. Furthermore, in Zeewolde the plots for the pomological control of fruit varieties are situated. Part of Zeewolde is also used for the production of bud wood and graft wood of avenue and shade trees, as well as woody ornamentals.
